God's always got a plan...

... even if you don't know it yet.

As most of you know, the four of us got together because we felt led to do so. Originally it was for creating a youth and family organization for a specific church. Then we felt His tug in another direction. We weren't quite sure yet what He was telling us, but we all said, "okay, we'll listen". That is of course after he slapped us across the head a few times!

Well we recently formed a new organization called The Edge Organization and still for the longest time we weren't sure what we were being called to do. But we knew it had something to do with helping the local community. Was it to form a new church? Or maybe to package and present our messages. We were all hoping it was just to play softball for a while... especially when we won the championship. But then we got off our high (softball) horse - actually got knocked off is more like it - and realized that it's not His plan to just play softball.

Then a person in the local community bumped into Flip one day and told us he was thinking about us and we should attend the local Forsyth County steering committee meeting on ridding the county of methamphetamine. I didn't even know how to pronounce it, much less volunteer to help our local government. But, Andy and Bro took on the task and attended the meeting. The day after the meeting I got a call from Andy and I couldn't shut him up. He wouldn't stop talking about how this is our (The Edge's) calling and how we could really help out the county and blah, blah blah. That's about all I remember he was talking so fast. After my head stopped spinning, I began to understanding that this thing was for real and God was not going to let us get away without helping out.

[sidebar: I've learned that when Andy has an idea, and he gets this pumped about it, there's no turning him back, but most importantly, since I've known him, he's always been right. ugh]

So, after talking with our spouses and praying a lot about this, it's time to do His work. So off we go to help drive meth out of the county. I've done a lot of reading lately and this is a *nasty* drug. Whew. I never realized how bad this stuff is. And don't buy the line "what I do to my body won't affect others" line either. Because there are far more innocent victims affected by this drug than you can imagine (wives, kids, innocent standers-by). Many of the victims had their lives taken by crazed users high on meth. I got a good education by watching the Meth Death movie at www.meth-in-douglas.com. This is another good site to learn about the dangers of the drug too, www.notevenonce.com.

So, please keep us in your prayers as we take on this next chapter in our lives. We aren't sure exactly where this is leading us but we know we are pointed in the right direction. What better way could we show Christian love and caring through a program like this? Isn't this what Jesus would have done? Maybe chapter one of The Edge was the "talk the talk". It looks like chapter two is "walk the walk."

Edge Softball Goes for the Perfect Season!

Good day ladies, gentlemen, and children of all ages!

The Edge Softball has had a fantastic Spring 2006 season! This season would not have been possible without our devoted fans who have cheered us on through cold, rain, wind, and heat. You, the fans, have been there for us in the close games and in the easier games. But your level of support never wavered and your confidence never dwindled (okay maybe a little in that one extra inning game we had).

We are now approaching a pinnacle rarely seen in Church “C” League softball … a feat that can only be accomplished through dedication and determination … an achievement made possible through the team work and bonding that has occurred … the triumph of a PERFECT season.

You have the chance to witness history in the making … a team of Christian brothers coming together to achieve man’s greatest sporting achievement of a perfect 12 – 0 season.

Seats are selling out fast for this game. It will quickly become standing room only so you must buy your tickets now to get the best seats in the house! We want to ROCK THE HOUSE on Tuesday as we close out the season! So bring out the whole family to scream, yell, clap, and stomp to raise the noise level and let everyone in the stadium know who you are cheering on to VICTORY!

This final game in June 6 beginning at 7:45 on Field 7 at Central Park off GA Hwy 306 (Exit 17 off GA 400). There will be an autograph session at Summits following the game so that you can meet the players of The Edge! Bring the autograph books … we also sign hats and shirts!

See you at THE game!

Thanks to all of the fans who have supported The Edge softball on the field and everyone who supports The Edge Ministries as we strive to positively affect the youth of Forsyth County and beyond.

Serving the Big Man,

The EDGE

Do you have the faith to be an atheist?

All too often we are challenged by our friends and aquaintances to defend our faith. It seems that those issuing the challenge tend to put out a lot of facts to support their point and confusing the truth in a hidden mess of half truths and partial facts.

Here are a couple thoughts to help in those discussions:
The Bible is a collection of books written over a period of several hundred years and yet are consistent in message and historical data. These 66 books were written by authors most of whom never met and came from varied backgrounds. This is more than coincidence. This is the Holy Spirit guiding authors to deliver a message that is as valuable today as it was 2000 years ago.

You are encouraged to read Proverbs on a daily basis in addition to whatever other Scripture reading you may be doing. There are 31 Proverbs, every morning for a month read the chapter corresponding to that day of the month. You will be amazed at how often the message of the chapter that day will relate to something you are facing in your life. Equally amazing about Scripture and its ability to withstand the test of time is the ability Scripture has to send out important messages relating to different subjects. 2 people can read the same verses and get entirely different and yet completely relevent messages from the text. In Bruce Almighty we found there were several powerful spiritual messages taken out of the movie. The movie related to different people in different ways. And that's a movie, Holy Scripture takes that to a whole new level.

There are several books to help you understand the arguments presented by questioning people, non-believers and true seekers. A couple good ones are "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel and "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell.

A couple other key notes to think about. It is okay to question, in fact it is responsible to question things related to your faith. Seek answers to questions or confusing points. Turn to your youth leader, Sunday school teacher or Pastor. Parents and Christian friends are also good sources. God tells us in Revelation Chapter 3 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
Basically, God can handle your questioning, your anger and your love....it is apathy that upsets The Big Guy!

Bring your questions to the Lord, while He may not chose to answer in your timeframe, there is no doubt He will supply with the information you need to move forward in faith.

Finally, we encourage you to clearly understand the theology of church doctrine (law and tradition) as it relates to your knowledge of the Bible. If there is something that doesn't make sense to you, seek out answers from a knowledgeable source. They won't be upset and will look forward to clearing up questions to the best of their ability.

Have a great week, in HIS SERVICE.
